My passion for working with my voice began when I was a teenager, in the late 1970s and early 1980s. I started in radio, hosting programmes and discovering how a microphone could connect people. In 1981, I was voted among Italy's top ten DJs in the "Vota il tuo DJ" competition organised by Boy Music magazine, and took part in the final event alongside artists from the Italian music scene.
Radio was my first training ground: presenting, impressions, timing and improvisation. Television followed, with comedy sketches as part of the trio "Il Pernacchione" on regional channels in Emilia-Romagna, and work as the off-screen voice of the variety show "Charleston Club".
Since 1984, voice work has been at the heart of my professional life. I developed my career in commercials and dubbing, working with art directors and copywriters on national and local campaigns. Collaborating with the people behind the scripts also led me into copywriting—an experience that helps me understand a message before I perform it.
Sung jingles are an important part of my story. I was among the early producers to develop a structured approach to commercial jingle production in Bologna, creating jingles for numerous local radio stations. In the 1990s, I contributed to the sound of "Lattemiele l'italiana", writing and producing jingles for the station.
This work also shaped my career as an audio producer, combining vocal performance with writing, music selection, sound design and audio production.
I enjoy exploring what the voice can do, switching delivery styles and developing characters for animation and video games. One particularly memorable experience was playing the lead in "Nicolas Eymerich, Inquisitor", based on the novels by Valerio Evangelisti. I performed the character in both Italian and Latin in "La peste" and "Il villaggio".
Over the years, I have also voiced television trailers and promos, financial podcasts and projects for brands including Ferrari, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Volvo, BMW, Nikon, Energizer, Domori and Piaggio.
Today, I work as an Italian voice actor specialising in commercials, narration and dubbing from my studio in Casalecchio di Reno, near Bologna, Italy. I record radio, TV and online commercials, corporate videos, documentaries, audio guides, e-learning courses, audiobooks and podcasts.
Whether the script calls for an authoritative tone, a conversational delivery, a lively performance or a character voice, I look for an intention that feels believable. That is what continues to fascinate me: finding the way to make words come alive for the listener.
